The Nickel Plate Park was established in 1938 and is a more remote destination park west of Penticton, BC. A wilderness park with no services covering 8, 714 hectares and mostly draws backpackers, hikers, canoeists and wilderness campers during the summer months. Many camp on the shores of Nickel Plate Lake and hike from there on day trips.

A beautiful lake setting sunken in a valley with Lookout Mountain overlooking the glacial Nickel Lake. Hike a bit to the north side of the lake and there are massive boulders left behind from the receding ice age. The many hiking trails in the area are cross country ski trails in the winter.

Nickel Plate Park in the winter is a very popular cross country destination with over 30 kms of groomed and trackset trails for classic and skating style cross country skiers of all ages and abilities. There is the Nickel Plate Nordic Centre onsite with a heated day use chalet and waxing hut.

How to Get to Nickel Lake Park:

The Nickel Lake Park is located west of Penticton near Apex Mountain. Follow the gravel Hedley - Nickelplate Road for 30 kms from Hwy #3A. The Nordic Centre is 7 kms past the Apex Ski Hill. Nickel Plate Park in BCeh!
