Penticton,
British Columbia is a lake
community in the Central Okanagan Valley region situated on the
shores of Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake. The community is situated
in between the two recreational lakes and is a major centre in
the valley.
There is a sandy beach anchoring
the community on both sides of town. Across the street from the
sandy beaches and lakefront are outdoor patio restaurants, accommodations,
attractions and retail stores. The beaches, in the summer, are
busy with people swimming and suntanning.

The surrounding landscape of Penticton,
BC is covered in desert hills, sage brush and cactus. The lower
lying valleys include the vineyards, orchards and wineries. There
are wine tours offered in town featuring many of the wine making
operations in the region.

There is a vast assortment of outdoor activities

enjoy mountain biking, kite surfing, cycling, kayaking, water
skiing, canoeing, hiking, birdwatching, backpacking, rock climbing,
dirt biking, houseboating, golfing, fishing, channel tubing, windsurfing
and others.
In the winter months, the snowfall season, people
in Penticton, British Columbia, enjoy cross country skiing, snowshoeing,
snowmobiling and ice fishing. The local mountain, Apex
Mountain, is the ski destination for people who enjoy downhill
skiing and snowboarding.
There are many parks, lakes and trails in the
region. The most well known hiking and mountain biking trail in
the region is the KVR
- Kettle Valley Rail Trail. Some of the parks in the area
worth an adventure include the Okanagan
Mountain Park and Skaha Bluffs.
