Mountain Trail

Blue Mountain Trail is a hiking trail following power lines and exploring the slopes of Blue Mountain along some gravel logging roads. The recreation hike includes some elevation hiking while exposed to the sun, with some areas of forest cover hiking. It is important to have head gear and plenty of water on sunshine days. The mountain trail provides hikers a good work out as much of it is up hill. Once at the peak, the trail offers many viewpoints of the Okanagan Valley and of the surrounding lakes. Hikers should wear good foot wear as parts of the trail is covered in loose gravel. The mountain hike trailhead is tricky to find but, basically begins from a gravel pit. Begin hiking over the south end bank of the gravel pit toward the gravel road which should be to your north. Hike the gravel road for approximately 1 hour to a fork in the road. Take a right. Continue your hike to another fork in the road. Take a left. The Hiking trail starts about here. The trail begins to traverse up the slope of Blue Mountain. While hiking keep your head up and look for the power lines. Options for the final push to the top include following the road (longer route) or following the power lines (direct route). The Blue Mountain Trail leads all explorers to a peak which stands at an elevation of 4600 feet. Hikers should bring a lunch and binoculars as the views are fantastic. The one way hike should take anywhere from 3 -4 hours to hike up and 2-3 hours to hike down.
