The Okanagan
Valley is blessed with some of the warmest weather
conditions in all of British Columbia, Canada creating some of the
TOP Sandy Beach Destinations
in the province. The warm weather, combined with the many lakes,
creates many sandy beaches and summer festivals thus putting the
Okanagan Valley on the map as one of Canada's top destinations for
recreational lake activites.
The abundance
of Sandy Beaches
is partially due to the Okanagan Valley being located, part and
parcel, in Canada's largest desert. The four main sandy beach destination
lakes of the Okanagan Valley area are located near the bigger communities
of Kelowna, Peachland, Penticton and Osoyoos, BC... therefore, offering
easy access to the sandy beaches of Skaha Lake, Okanagan Lake, Shuswap
Lake and Osoyoos Lake.
Lake Activities
of the Okanagan Valley include
boating, swimming, water skiing, tubing, snorkling, jet boating,
wind surfing, skid boards, sandcastle building, frisbee and sun
tanning. Many of the public access sandy beaches include picnic
tables, grass areas, play grounds, concession stands and washrooms.
Some of the Okanagan
Valley Sandy Beaches have volleyball courts, tennis
courts, water parks and art exhibitors. The major sandy beaches
on Skaha Lake, Okanagan Lake and Osoyoos Lake are close to restaurants,
pubs, coffee houses and gift stores. Most sandy beach areas do not
have a lifeguard on duty.
Enjoy the hot
sand, warm lakes in the Okanagan eh!
