is also referred to by some
as Westside, is a small community resting on the shores of Okanagan
Lake next door to the community of Kelowna, BC. The commercial
district of the community is up on the hillside lining both sides
of the highway. Looking down from the highway one can view the
lake, some residential homes and a few fields filled with grapevines
and fruit trees.
The parks, trails and wineries in Westbank
are located closer to the lake and away from the main highway
and commercial centre. Most of the community parks rest on the
shores of Okanagan Lake along with many sightseeing viewpoints.
A scenic lake drive when visiting Westbank provides many opportunities
to visit with wineries and orchards while exploring places like
Raymer Bay, Green Bay and Gellatly Bay.

Okanagan Lake stretches south 110 Km (68
Mi.) connecting the communities of Vernon, Kelowna, Westbank,
Peachland, Summerland and Penticton, BC. The lake enjoys many
access points for adventure seekers wishing to explore the waters
on Okanagan Lake. Some of the more popular activities on the water
in the region include water skiing, jet skiing, boating, parasailing,
houseboating, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, sailing, beachcombing
and fishing.
While on land in the
area of Westbank there are many activities to
enjoy that take very little effort or, if preferred, take plenty
of effort. The wine tours in the region provide a relaxing adventure
while tasting wines, learning wines and appreciating wines. |
